How to get home after treatment

How to Get Home After Treatment

For ketamine treatments, we ask that you refrain from driving after treatment, which means you’ll need a ride home following your appointment. For most other treatments at our office, you may drive yourself after your appointment.

Driving Restrictions

Getting home after a stellate ganglion block, TMS treatment, or nitrous oxide inhalation treatment is easy – you can drive yourself home. When you feel recovered after treatment you are free to leave and drive home. If you’d prefer, you can have someone drive you or take an Uber home, but it is not required for these procedures.

For ketamine treatments, including ketamine infusions as well as ketamine IM injections, you must have a ride home. We further suggest that patients plan to have a period of rest, without demanding or important activities, following a ketamine treatment.

You may rely on an Uber, Lyft, taxi, friend, or family member to help you home.

Many patients want to have their ride stay with them in the clinic, while others prefer to be dropped off and then picked up at the end of their appointment. We usually recommend that patients give their ride a time frame, such as an hour and a half to two hours after their scheduled appointment time. This ensures you’ll have time to speak with the doctor at the beginning of your appointment, receive the infusion or IM injections, and have time to fully rest and recover before heading down to the lobby to go home.

For patients taking an Uber home, we recommend that you plan to stay a little bit longer in the clinic until you feel very clearheaded before calling for their ride.
