Reevaluate your mental health

Reevaluate Your Mental Health

When you’re starting a new treatment, it’s a great time to review any other factors that have an influence on your mental health.

When you’re starting with a new provider or beginning a new mental health treatment — whether its ketamine, TMS, stellate ganglion blocks, or any other treatment — you should look at it as an opportunity to review any factors that can have an impact on your mental health.

Evaluate — are there any medications that can be causing or worsening depression?

Is there a role that drug or alcohol use plays in causing or worsening depression?

Is there a possibility of underlying grief or trauma, or a comorbid diagnosis such as OCD or anxiety, that is causing or worsening depression?

How are lifestyle factors such as sleep impacting your mental health?

What does your labwork look like — such as your levels of vitamin D, magnesium, iron, hormones — and how might that be impacting your well-being?

These are some of the many factors that come into play with mental health. When you’re starting a new treatment, it can be a great opportunity to holistically review these factors and see what can be optimized to further treat your mental health.
